Kielce | Ist International Piano Masterclasses 'Spaces of Culture'

On July 17-21, 2023, the Ist International Piano Masterclasses 'Spaces of Culture' will take place in Kielce. The application deadline is the 17th of June.

The project is dedicated to pianists at all levels of artistic education: both students of primaryand secondary music schools, as well as students and graduates of music academies.

During the courses, participants will work under the guidance of recognized pedagogues and artists, such as: Olga Łazarska, Hubert Rutkowski, Bartłomiej Kominek and Luka Okros.

The course will include: masterclasses with pedagogues in the following specialties: piano and piano duo, concerts of participants, lectures.

Opole | 33rd International Music Course in Opole

On August 1-12, 2023, the 33rd International Music Course in Opole will take place - one of the oldest events dealing with music education in Poland, bringing together over a hundred young musicians from around the world every year. The application deadline is the 24th of June.

The course offer includes:

  • masterclasses: piano, historical piano, piano duo, violin, viola, cello, double bass, string and piano chamber music and orchestral performance,
  • historical performance classes,
  • improvisation classes for pianists and string players led by Atom String Quartet and composer Aleksander Dębicz,
  • workshops on the physiology of music,
  • the possibility of artistic presentations at many concerts taking place in Opole and in other interesting places in Opole Silesia,
  • concerts performed by course lecturers and invited guests.

Cracow | 3rd edition of the 'Art & Violence' Composition Competition: final concert

ArtViolence 23.6.23The 2Act Foundation invites you to the final concert of the 3rd edition of the "Art & Violence" Composition Competition. On the 23rd of June, 2023 at 6.00 p.m. in the Potocki Palace in Cracow (Rynek Główny 20) the winning piece Intimidazione by the Łódź composer Tomasz Szczepanik will be premiered. Free entrance!

The subject of this year's competition was a composition for harpsichord and electronics. We will hear it performed by the world-famous harpsichordist Gośka Isphording, a lecturer at the Amsterdam Conservatory. The expert in contemporary harpsichord literature will also present Cantate by Peteris Vasks, Yuomec by Aleksandra Gryka, Espressivo by Graciane Finzi, éskhatos | at one end of a continuum by Martyna Kosecka. The Polish premiere of Anne Thorvaldsdottir's Fingerprints will also take place.

The partners in organizing the competition and the concert are: Association of Authors ZAiKS, POLMIC, Cracow Festival Office / Potocki Palace.

Kościerzyna | 'Conductor-resident': Szymon Naściszewski

Szymon Naściszewski - conductor-in-residence of the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot in the artistic season 2022/2023 - will perform with the orchestra at the Remus Cinema in Kościerzyna on June 23, 2023 at 19.00.

 As part of the programme, Szymon Naściszewski worked as an assistant conductor at 4 concerts of the orchestra under the supervision of artistic director Wojciech Rajski. This concert will be prepared and conducted by himself. The flutist Natalia Egielman will perform as a soloist. Musicians will perform works by Polish composers: the Polish Suite ‘Hommage a Chopin’ by Andrzej Panufnik in the version for flute and string orchestra and Colas Breugnon by Tadeusz Baird. There will also be a Serenade for string orchestra by Antonín Dvořák.

Concerts within the residency are co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of its own programme ‘Conductor-in-residence’, financed from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

41st General Assembly of Members of the Polish Composers' Union

Kominek 16.6.23On June 16-18, 2023, the 41st General Assembly of Members of the Polish Composers' Union was held in Warsaw, during which new authorities were elected and several resolutions were adopted.

The following composers were elected Honorary Members of the Polish Composers' Union: Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, Szabolcs Esztényi, Walentin Silwestrow and Adrian Thomas.

Mieczysław Kominek, a musicologist and director of the Polish Music Information Center POLMIC, was re-elected as the president of the Polish Composers' Union.

Cracow | Sinfonietta Cracovia and Ben Goldscheider: season finale

At the final concert of the artistic season 2022/2023, Sinfonietta Cracovia will host the star of the French horn – virtuoso Ben Goldscheider. On the 22nd of June, 2023 at 19.30 he will perform together with the Cracow Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak.

The programme will include the Horn Concerto in E flat major by Richard Strauss. There will be film motifs (music by Nino Rota) and contemporary music: the concert will open with the piece Orsi by composer Martyna Kosecka. The culmination of the concert will be Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, described by Wagner as ‘the apotheosis of dance’. Can you imagine a more beautiful season finale?

Gdańsk | 12th EURO Chamber Music Festival

The 12th edition of the EURO Chamber Music Festival will not lack what has been so far: master chamber music, young talents, a wide spectrum of concert repertoire, extraordinary events, and finally interesting, original projects dedicated to great figures of world culture. The festival will take place in Gdańsk from June 21 to July 9, 2023.

This year's edition of the project will include, among others: winner of the 15th International Henryk Wieniawski Veriko Tchumburidze & Friends, Włodek Pawlik - the only winner of the Grammy Award of Polish jazz (June 23, ‘Jazz gift for Father's Day’), the Orchestra of the Baltic Opera in a chamber setup conducted by Trajan Muryń, as well as recognized artists from Poland, France, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Italy, Israel.
