Katowice | Beauty and perfection

S

On June 3, 2018 at 6.00 pm in the Polish Radio Concert Studio in Katowice (29 Ligonia Street) a "Beauty and Perfection" concert will take place, performed by counter-tenor Jakub Józef Orliński and pianist Michał Biela.

In June, Jakub Józef Orliński and Michał Biel will perform in Poland twice: at the invitation of the Institution for the Promotion and Dissemination of Music "Silesia" on June 3 in Katowice and June 8 in Warsaw, as part of the "Opera Academy Invites" series. Later, in less than a week, their concert will take place at London's Wigmore Hall, for which tickets have been sold out for a long time.

The impressive winning streak of these young artists has been going on for two years. They are laureates of the 9th Moniuszko Competition in Warsaw, where Jakub Józef Orliński won the second prize in the male voice category, and Michał Biel won the award for the outstanding young pianist. After graduating from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (J. J. Orliński) and the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy  (M. Biel), they improved their skills at the famous New York Juilliard School. The last series of Jakub Jan Orliński's spectacular successes include winning the Grand Prix 2016 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and winning the Marcella Sembrich International Vocal Competition. Joint performances of these artists, who have performed, among others, in the famous Carnegie Hall and during the Festival in Aix-en-Provence, meet with great applause.

The program of the June concert in Katowice includes works by Georg Friedrich Händel, Henry Purcell, Franz Schubert, Reynald Hahn, as well as Polish composers: Kurpie Songs by Karol Szymanowski, Four Love Sonnets by Tadeusz Baird and Autumn from Haiku by Paweł Łukaszewski.

Free tickets are available at the IPiUM Silesia office (2 Sejmu Śląskiego Square, ground floor, room 20) or by phone 32/219 33 44 ext. 21.
