The Mieczysław Weinberg Institute invites you to the 104th birthday of its patron in Warsaw on December 8-10, 2023. The music and literary programme includes: a concert performed by Ewa Leszczyńska (soprano), Katarzyna Budnik (viola), Marcin Zdunik (cello) and Maria Sławek (violin), a meeting devoted to the poetry of Julian Tuwim and a walk around the area of the small ghetto. Free entrance.
On the birthday Friday at 6 p.m. at Księgarnia Czarnego in Warsaw's Wola district, Dr. Magdalena Piotrowska-Grot (University of Łódź), Agnieszka Kuś and Dr. Aleksander Laskowski (NIFC) will talk about Weinberg's unique relationship with Tuwim's work, how words are translated into music, and also about the importance of Tuwim's poetry for the inhabitants of the Warsaw ghetto. After the meeting, two song cycles will be performed: "Biblia cygańska" Op.57 and "Stare Listy" op.77, arranged by Maria Sławek.
On the 10th of December at 11:00 a walk around the small ghetto in the footsteps of Mary Berg will be led by Agnieszka Kuś. We meet in 41 Sienna Street.
