2016 edition of the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival will be held in Warsaw in March 12-25.
The programme of the 20th anniversary edition of the event includes performances of several orchestras (Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under Jacek Kaspszyk and Krzysztof Penderecki, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich under Lionel Bringuier, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg under Krzysztof Urbański, Santander Orchestra under Jerzy Maksymiuk, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Alexander Liebreich, Sinfonia Varsovia under John Axelrod and Maximiano Valdés, Sinfonietta Cracovia), ensembles (Emerson String Quartet, Shanghai Quartet, Szymanowski Quartet, Meccore String Quartet) and soloists (pianists Yefim Bronfman, Alexei Volodin and Szymon Nehring, baritone Thomas Hampson, clarinetist Michel Lethiec, cellist Claudio Bohórquez, and others).
The repertoire ranges from works by Ludwig van Beethoven and 19th-century composers (Franz Schubert, Antonín Dvořák, Felix Mendelssohn, Fryderyk Chopin, Gustav Mahler, Richard Wagner), to Karol Szymanowski, Igor Stravinsky, Dmitri Shostakovich, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, George Gershwin and Krzysztof Penderecki (St. Luke Passion).
The concerts and other fringe events will also be held in other cities in Poland (Katowice, Krakow, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Szczecin, Zabrze, Olsztyn, Radom).
