The concerts on the ocaccion of the 50th anniversary of prof. Sławomir Czarnecki's artistic work will be held on Octobner 8, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Warsaw and on October 12, 217 at 6 p.m. at the Jasna Gora Basilica in Częstochowa.
Sławomir Czarnecki studied composition with Piotr Perkowski and Romuald Twardowski in the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw (master’s degree in 1974), then in 1980-81 with Olivier Messiaen in Paris (thanks to a French government scholarship). Since 1974, he has taught theory in Józef Elsner State Secondary Music School in Warsaw. He has received numerous awards and honourable mentions in competitions for composers.
During the jubilee concerts Czarnecki's Jasna Gora Mass will be performed by the Jasna Gora Pueri Claromontani Boys' and Men's Choir, Chamber Choir of the Music Institute of the Jan Długosz Academy in Częstochowa, and Symphonic Orchestra of the Complex of State Music Schools no. 1 under the baton of Radosław Labahua. Sopranist Gabriela Gołaszewska and baritone Michał Przygoński will perform as soloists.
