Iwona Mironiuk, pianist, b. 4th June 1969 in Białystok, studied piano with Bronisława Kawalla and chamber music with Jerzy Marchwiński in the F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw. She was then awarded a scholarship of the Foundation of Culture (1995-96) and undertook postgraduate studies in the performance of contemporary music (with Szabolcs Esztényi), which she completed with distinction. She developed her abilities at master classes of piano interpretation: with Pavel Gililov in Lubeck and Rudolf Buchbinder in Zurich.
She has taken part in numerous music festivals, including The Warsaw Autumn, The Witold Lutosławski Forum, “Passage” Festival in Warsaw, “Two Days and Nights of New Music” in Odessa. She plays in chamber ensembles with such Polish soloists as Szabolcs Esztényi, Stanisław Skoczyński, Alina Maria Mleczko, and Tomasz Strahl. For many years she has also collaborated with the International Society for Contemporary Music, Polish Section, the Polish Composers’ Union, Wanda Warska and Andrzej Kurylewicz’s Artistic Cellar, as well as Ryszard Ostromęcki’s Artistic Cellar, performing at concerts organised by those institutions. She has also played with Deutsches Kammerorchester, Białystok Philharmonic Orchestra, and Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
She has given a number of world premiere performances of solo works for piano. She has also recorded extensively for the radio, mostly in contemporary music repertoire. DUX record company commissioned her to make a single-composer CD with Zygmunt Krauze’s compositions for solo piano.
Iwona Mironiuk is on the faculty of the Music Academy in Warsaw, Chair of Piano Chamber Music.
