Jacek Grudzień,

composer, b. 7th December 1961 in Warsaw. He studied composition with Włodzimierz Kotoński and piano improvisation with Szabolcs Esztényi in Warsaw Music Academy. He participated in courses of composition in Darmstadt, Kazimierz Dolny, Patras and Dartington. In 1986-87, thanks to a postgraduate scholarship funded by Witold Lutosławski, he studied electronic music and MIDI system in London.
At present, he collaborates with the Experimental Studio of the Polish Radio. His interests include also music for the theatre and film.
Jacek Grudzień is a winner of the Young Composers’ Competition of the Polish Composers’ Union (1988) and the All-Polish Competition for a Work for Classical Guitar (1995). In 2003 his Ad Naan was a recommended work at the International Composers’ Rostrum under the auspices of UNESCO in Vienna.
He lives and works in Warsaw.
