The CD commemorates Cracow as the European Capital of Culture, a title granted to the city in 2000. It is a collection of works dedicated to Capella Cracoviensis by contemporary composers from Cracow. The Capella itself consists of several smaller ensembles: a chamber orchestra, a madrigal ensemble, a men’s choir and an independent wind ensemble. With the exception of the vocal ensemble, each of the above has taken part in the present recording: the wind ensemble in the Christmas piece Cassazione per Natale by Bujarski and the virtuoso Leggiero e mobile by Moszumańska-Nazar; the string orchestra - in the spirited Sonata by Stachowski; the madrigalists - in the beautifully and originally arranged Carols by Palester. |
