Coryphaeus of Polish Music 2015 – Awards to Be Granted for the Fifth Time
The Coryphaeus of Polish Music awards of the Polish music world are presented this year already for the fifth time. The awards are granted to distinguished persons, groups of artists and institutions active in the stylistically and historically diversified field of Polish music. Names of candidates could be submitted via the www.koryfeusz.org.pl website by 10th September 2015, and the names of the award winners will be announced at a special gala on 11th November 2015.
The recipients of the Coryphaeus of Polish Music awards are authors, performers, musicologists, critics, journalists, human scientists, researchers, event animators, culture promoters and managers, artistic groups, as well as institutions, artistic events and various projects related to promotion of music culture, education and community outreach. The awards are granted in three categories: Personality of the Year, Event of the Year and Honorary Award. In 2014, Włodek Pawlik was elected Personality of the Year, and Krystian Zimerman’s concert during the 56th “Warsaw Autumn” International Festival of Contemporary Music was named Event of the Year. Prof. Mieczysław Tomaszewski received the Honorary Award for his entire output. The winners received commemorative statuettes designed by Prof. Adam Myjak, while the financial rewards were funded by ZAiKS Authors’ Association (Polish Society of Authors and Composers) and by STOART Union of Performing Artists.
Names of candidates can be submitted by all those involved in Polish music life. Last year, more than 160 entries were registered. The Coryphaeus of Polish Music awards are granted by an Electoral College, consisting of vice-chancellors of music academies and universities, directors of institutes of musicology, journalists from music-related media, representatives of unions and organisations active in the Polish music world, as well as all the recipients of the Award from previous years, regardless of the category. The awards will be presented during an award ceremony held on 11th November 2015 at the Polish Radio Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw. Rozpoczęła się piąta edycja nagrody polskiego środowiska muzycznego – Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej. Nagroda jest wyróżnieniem dla osób, grup artystów i instytucji działających w obszarze różnorodnej – gatunkowo i chronologicznie – muzyki polskiej. Kandydatury do nagrody można zgłaszać do 10 września 2015 roku za pośrednictwem strony www.koryfeusz.org.pl. Ogłoszenie laureatów nastąpi 11 listopada 2015 roku podczas uroczystej Gali.Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej jest przyznawany twórcom, artystom wykonawcom, muzykologom, krytykom, dziennikarzom, humanistom, badaczom, animatorom, popularyzatorom i menedżerom kultury, grupom artystów, a także instytucjom, wydarzeniom artystycznym oraz różnorodnym projektom twórczym, animacyjnym i edukacyjnym. Laureaci nagradzani są w 3 kategoriach: Osobowość Roku, Wydarzenie Roku oraz Nagroda Honorowa. W ubiegłym roku laureatem w kategorii Osobowość Roku został Włodek Pawlik. Za muzyczne Wydarzenie Roku uznano koncert Krystiana Zimermana podczas 56. Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Muzyki Współczesnej „Warszawska Jesień”. Nagrodę Honorową za całokształt twórczości otrzymał prof. Mieczysław Tomaszewski. Laureatom wręczono statuetki autorstwa profesora Adama Myjaka. Nagrody finansowe ufundowało Stowarzyszenie Autorów ZAiKS oraz Związek Artystów Wykonawców STOART.
Zgłoszenia kandydatur do nagrody mogą dokonywać osoby związane z polskim życiem muzycznym. W ubiegłym roku zgłoszono łącznie ponad 160 kandydatur. Koryfeusza Muzyki Polskiej przyznaje Kolegium Elektorów, w skład którego wchodzą rektorzy akademii muzycznych, uniwersytetów, dyrektorzy instytutów muzykologii, dziennikarze z mediów zajmujących się muzyką, przedstawiciele związków i organizacji branżowych, a także wszyscy laureaci dotychczas nagrodzeni nagrodą we wszystkich kategoriach.
Nagroda zostanie wręczona podczas uroczystej Gali 11 listopada 2015 roku w Studiu Koncertowym Polskiego Radia im. Witolda Lutosławskiego w Warszawie.
Organizatorem nagrody jest Instytut Muzyki i Tańca.
