Super Sam + 1 – Toshinori Kondō / Marek Chołoniewski

c Next event of the "Super Sam + 1" cycle will be held on December 8, 2016 in Warsaw.

"Super Sam + 1" is a series of solo performances and duos, which are held btween September and the end of 2016. The project focuses mainly on music, however, it also includes other forms of artistic expression such as performance, multimedia or monodrama. Each event involves the participation of one Polish artist. All invited performers present their premiere works, as well as meet local artists and audience during the workshops.

Toshinori Kondō is a Japanese avant-garde jazz and jazz fusion trumpeter. In 1978 he moved to New York and began performing with Bill Laswell, John Zorn, Fred Frith, and Eraldo Bernocchi. A year later he released his first recording, toured Europe with Eugene Chadbourne, and collaborated with European musicians such as Peter Brotzman. He also collaborated with Derek Bailey, Herbie Hancock, Steve Lacy, DJ Krush and Polish band Levity (album Chopin Shuffle). He also composed music to Japanese film productions.

Marek Chołoniewski is a composer, sound artist, performer and teacher. He is the head of the Electroacoustic Music Studios at the Academy of Music in Krakow, founder and president of Muzyka Centrum Art Society and Polish Society for Electroacoustic Music. Since 2011, he has been the president of International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music and artistic director of Audio Art Festival in Krakow. He founded many groups and ensembles, such as Freight Train, ch&k&k, dizzy kinetics. He received an Honorable Award of the Polish Composers’ Union, Award of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, as well as the Independent Project grant of the CEC ArtsLink in New York.
