Formed in 1998 Quarrel Quartet consists of students of Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. Inspired and coached by members of “Camerata” Quartet in its first years, since 2004 the group has been studying with Professor Hatto Beyerle. Since 2005 Quarrel Quartet has been a member of European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA).
Quarrel Quartet is the first prize winner of National Bacewicz Chamber Music Competition in Lodz (1999), Charles Hennen International Chamber Music Competition in Heerlen.(2001) and International Max Reger Competition in Sondershausen (2002). The quartet has attended masteclasses with members of Amadeus Quartet, Ysaye Quartet, Tokyo Quartet and, as a part of ProQuartet CEMC’s proffesional training programme, with Thomas Kakuska and Rainer Schmidt. Thanks to the membership in ECMA the quartet has the opportunity to work with such musicians as Hatto Beyerle, Peter Cropper, Johannes Meissl, Christoph Richter, Erich Hobarth.
Quarrel Quartet has performed in many European countries, also in the USA and Japan. They were invited to festivals in Warsaw, Vilnius, Colmar (France), Usedom (Germany), Santa Fiora , Bolzano, Osnabrueck, New York and Sapporo and they appeared in such prestigious concert halls as Warsaw Philharmonic and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. The quartet performed with Natalie Clein, Kikuei Ikeda (Tokyo String Quartet), Vladimir Mendelssohn, Christoph Richter, Maciej Grzybowski and Roland Glassl.
In 2004 the group was awarded Juetting Stiftung scholarship and in 2006 Werner Egerland Stiftung.
Quarrel Quartet has recorded works of Mendelssohn and Bacewicz for Polish Radio.
