Sepia Ensemble specializes in performing contemporary music. It was founded in 2012 by Artur Kroschel and Rafał Zapała. The Ensemble consists of the the graduates and higher level students of the I. J. Paderewski's Academy of Music in Poznań who are especially passionate and interested in performing the newest music.
The Ensemble organizes concerts in the Academy of Poznan as well as in nonconventional places which are appropriate to listen to the new music. Its repertoire covers Polish composer's pieces, as well as the music of the interesting composers of the whole world.
In December 2012 ensemble realized the projects of the John Cage's Year with the pieces of the American artist. In 2013 the ensemble played two concerts during the "Musicacoustica" Festival in Beijing. In 2014 Sepia Ensemble launched project "Zooming", which is a try of zooming a foreign and Polish contemporary music to Polish audience. The following concerts were held in 2015: "Zooming:Ireland" (Dublin/Poznań) and "Zooming:Estonia" (Tallinn).
The group consists of 12 musicians but they perform in the various combinations from solos to big ensembles. Artistic management of the Sepia Ensemble is held by Artur Kroschel and Rafał Zapała.
