composer, teacher and organizer of musical life; b. 24th May 1968 in Toruń. She graduated from the composition class of Franciszek Woźniak at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2018 she completed postgraduate studies in the field of Management of Cultural Institutions at the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz. She also studied carillon with Gert Oldenbeuving at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen in Belgium.

She was a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Marshal of the Voivodeship (four times), and Mayor of the city of Toruń (three times).

She writes solo, chamber, orchestral and choral compositions that are performed at many festivals and concerts in the cities of the region, Poland and Europe, among others in Klaipeda, Gotland, Switzerland, Hungary, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Belgium, as well as in the United States and Brazil. She receives commissions from, among others, the City of Toruń, the Pomeranian Music Society, the Music School in Toruń, the Pomeranian Philharmonic, Multicamerata or the Toruń Symphony Orchestra.

Her works have been performed by Gotlands Blassarkvintett, Hevelius Brass, Copernicus Brass, Cappella Bydgostiensis, National Latvian Orchestra, International Symphony Orchestra "Probaltica", Cappella Gedanensis, Norddeutche Sinfonietta, Astrolabium Choir, Sepia Ensemble, and many others. She has cooperated with many conductors, incuding Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, Jerzy Swoboda, Jose Maria Florencio, Mariusz Smolij, Jerzy Salwarowski, Kazimierz Kryza, Zygmunt Rychert, Modestas Pitrenas, Ruben Silva, Rafał Kłoczko, Paweł Przytocki.

The most important in her body of works are most likely vocal and instrumental compositions, referring to the culture and history of Toruń, such as Sinfonietta of the raftsmen, Toruń Overture, Catherine Fair, Incorporating Cantata in honor of the tribute of Toruń 1454 to the words by King Kazimierz Jagiellończyk, in which, in addition to the choir and orchestra, she used the sound of the great medieval bell Tuba Dei, Cantata in honor of the Second Peace of Toruń 1466, Oratorio about the life of a blessed priest Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski, or a puppet opera for children Tuba Dei and Angels. Sometimes she conducts premieres of her own works.

Theater music played a significant role in her activity, mainly in the period immediately after graduation. In 1992-1995 she was the music director of the W. Horzyca Theatre in Toruń, whose managing director was Krystyna Meissner. She also cooperated with the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz and Baj Pomorski. She wrote music for several theater performances. In 1998 she was a juror during subsequent Toruń Puppet Theater Meetings. In the years 2006-2017 she cooperated with the "Magic World" Theater, writing music for performances. In 2016, she composed a puppet opera for children Tuba Dei and Angels as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme of the Institute of Music and Dance. Most of the manuscripts of her compositions are held in the Music Collections of the Main Library of the Nicolaus Copernicus University.

She teaches composition at the Music School in Toruń. Since 2000, she has regularly organized composition concerts entitled 'School Score', presenting the works of her students, graduates and school teachers. She is the originator of "A Stave for the Pope" concerts, held annually in Toruń, which promotes the works of composers of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. In 2013, she began to organize a series of "Society Concerts", which main goal is to shape the musical identity of music lovers and musicians of the region based on the relationship with the region, tradition and contemporary creativity. In the same year she initiated and managed the instrumental workshops for children and youth from music schools entitled "Musical Holidays with Passion" in Bachotek and Górzno near Brodnica.

She is the organizer of two competitions: the Piotr Perkowski Polish National Competition for Young Composers and the National Composition Competition as part of the International Violin Festival in Toruń. She performs at the "Tour de Carillon" Festival, of which she is the originator and artistic director, promoting high culture among thousands of listeners in various regions of Poland. She also gives concerts in the Netherlands and at carillon festivals in Gdańsk.

Her activity has been repeatedly awarded by the Marshal of the Province and the Mayor of the City of Toruń. In 2001, she received the honorary badge Meritorious Activist of Culture for her creative activity. She is a laureate of the President's Award for teaching activities. In 2006, she was awarded the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodship Award for outstanding achievements in conducting socially useful activities serving the comprehensive development of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodship. In 2009, she received the Honorary Medal of the Mayor of Toruń "Thorunium" for services in the field of culture, and in 2013 the Angel of Toruń Statuette. In 2017, she was a finalist of the National Music Teachers’ Competition organized by the Polish Association for Music Education and Animation and she received the Award of the Polish Composers' Union. In the same year she received the Distinction of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in the field of Culture for her activity in the society. In 2019, the Voivodship Board awarded her with the Steel Angel – an award for people distinguished in social assistance activities.

Magdalena Cynk is a member of the Polish Composers' Union and the Polish Carillon Association. She is the President of the Pomeranian Music Society, which was reactivated on her initiative in 2012.
