percussionist and composer. Born in 1985 in Przemyśl, he studied percussion instruments with Professor Mirosław Adrjanczyk at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. In 2006 he started composition studies under Professor Andrzej Dziadek at the Academy. As an Socrates-Erasmus exchange student, in 2007-08 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover with Andreas Boettger (percussion), Erich Trog (first kettledrummer of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin), and Johannes Schöllhorn (new music). From that moment on, Drozd has been actively collaborating with a contemporary music ensemble led by Schöllhorn, specialising in pieces of the second avant-garde and new music using computer technologies.
Jaosław Drozd has played the percussion in different orchestras and chamber ensembles, performing world premieres of numerous works. He recorded seven albums of percussion music with Rhythm Song.
He received 1st prize of the 4th Composition Competition of the Salesian Rostrum of Composers for Sonore..
His pieces have been performed and recorded for Polish Radio (Programme 2) by musicians of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Radio Percussion Group of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, and with Camerata Silesia, during concerts and festivals in Poland and abroad. .
Drozd conducts innovative research with the use of neuroimaging techniques on stochastic music in light of cognitive psychophysiologic. .
He has been a member of the Youth Club of the Polish Composers' Union.
