ethnomusicologist and ethnographer; b. 19th March 1926 in Poznań. He studied musicology at the University of Poznań with A. Chybiński and M. Sobieski, as well as piano under the supervision of W. Lewandowski and W. Kędra at the Higher School of Music in Poznań (1948-54) where he taught musical folklore in 1972-74.
Bogosław Linette conducted musicological fieldwork in the regions of Wielkopolska, Kujawy, Pomorze, Podhale, Podkarpacie, Podlasie; the areas of Lubusz, Rzeszów, Suwałki, and Lublin; as well as in Lithuania, Belarus, West Ukraine, and Romanian parts of Bukovina. In 1987-1997 he led the editorial team of the Collected Works of Oskar Kolberg. He believes that preservation of authentic values of musical folklore and passing on music traditions to the next generations are truly important. He has written numerous academic and research publications on ethnography and ethnomusicology. He has been a lecturer, consultant, and juror of regional, national, and international folklore showcases (e.g. National Traditional Dance Competition in Rzeszów, Wielkopolska regional showcase, and showcases in Sieradz and Jelenia Góra). He has been a member of the Kolberg Award academy, artistic councils of a range of international festivals (Zielona Góra, Sosnowiec, Kołobrzeg, Nowa Ruda), and Polish Ministry of Culture's Commission on Folklore. He has been also worked as an expert for the Polish National Council of Student Folk Ensembles, and is an expert of the Polish section of the Conseil International des Organisations de Festivals de Folklore et d'Art Traditionnels, as well as sitting on the academic and art council of the Association of Folk Artists (Stowarzyszenie Twórców Ludowych) and the regional council for folklore based in Poznań. His is a juror of the Polish National Festival of Folk Bands and Singers in Kazimierz Dolny.
He received a range of distinctions, including the Golden Cross of Merit, Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2014), Medal of the Commission of National Education, an award for his work for the city of Poznań and its region, the Kolberg Award (1997), the title of Distinguished Culture Activist (Zasłużony Działacz Kultury), and an award granted by the Minister of National Education.
