organist; born 28 July 1974 in Hawirzów. He studied organ with Julian Gembalski at the Academy of Music in Katowice. After his studies in his native country he moved to Stuttgart (Germany) where he studied with Jon Laukvik at the University of Music in Stuttgart, receiving his Artistic Diploma in 2001 and Solo Diploma in 2003. He was a scholar of several institutions, including German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
During his studies he has participated in masterclasses and interpretation courses by almost all the important European organists. Especially Ton Koopman and Guy Bovet influenced him very much. Later he was pursuing private studies with them.
He made his name in the Polish organ world especially since 1997 when he won first prize at the Polish National Organ Competition in Rumia. Since then he has gained several prizes in international competitions in Germany, France, Russia and Italy. They include first prizes at the International Organ Competition “Nicolas de Grigny” in Bitche (France) and at the International Organ Competition in Rome, and the second prize ex aequo at the International Organ Competition in Kaliningrad (Russia) in the same year.
Krzysztof Lukas has recorded for radio and TV in several countries and has given recitals in 13 European countries. His most important performances were in Vienna (St. Stephen’s cathedral, Radiokulturhaus ORF, live broadcasted through Austrian Radio 1 ORF), London (Westminster Cathedral, The Temple Church, Manoukian Cultural Centre), Nürnberg (Meistersingerhalle) and in churches of Geneva, Rome, Stuttgart and Warsaw, Kaliningrad etc.
