Mieczysław Karłowicz Association invites all friends of chamber music to a joint journey to Zakopane to the 16th "Muzyka na szczytach" Festival on September 7-14, 2024. This year's program, titled "Inspiration", will feature music from various eras and styles.
Recognized performers were invited to participate in this edition, including: Olga Pasiecznik, Adam Strug, Barbara Borowicz, LLLeggiero Woodwind Trio, the Cracow Philharmonic Choir and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra will perform under the baton of Maciej Tworek.
Classical works will be juxtaposed with innovative explorations by contemporary artists. There will also be works reinterpreting classic forms. In the works of Karol Szymanowski, Claude Debussy, Tōru Takemitsu and Roman Palester, the spiritus movens takes the form of a dialogue with tradition, while discovering new musical spaces.
A special element of this year’s edition is new music for instrumental chamber ensembles. During the concert on September 11 at 7:00 p.m. world premiere of Music for a While by Dariusz Przybylski will take place. The piece was created as part of the "Composers’ Commissions" program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance. On September 12, the Mauris Ensemble will premiere the composition Paths in the Gardens by Maciej Negrey.
The whole event will be complemented by works by composers such as Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Paweł Mykietyn, and during the final concert entitled Man vs. technology Wojciech Blecharz's Symphony No. 3 will be performed on 200 wireless speakers.
Accompanying events will be the 9th exhibition Creators of Podhale, presenting the achievements of Podhale artists and masters of crafts, including Aleksandra Rudzka-Miazga, as well as the screening of the film Fitzcarraldo at Kino Głos and the presentation of the installation Deus Cantando by Peter Ablinger at the Hasiora Gallery. The works of each of them reflects a unique perspective on inspiration.
The artists will also meet the audience as part of the “Conversations at the Summits" Club.
