Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Rakowski, an important figure in Polish musical life, died on 3 April 2018. 

He was an outstanding acoustician of international renown, who also dealt with acoustics in the context of musical practice. As one of the first researchers in Poland, he took up electronic music, studied musical talents, and dealt with the state of musicality in the Polish society. He was a member of the Polish Composers' Union from 1963.
