Kisielewski Gasiorowska

In the latest ‘Small Monograph’ of the Polish Music Publishing House, Małgorzata Gąsiorowska looks at the life and work of Stefan Kisielewski, drawing an intriguing portrait of one of the most colorful and important figures in the cultural world of Poland.

Many books have been written about Kisielewski. Most of them focus on his political and journalistic activity, but the artistic side is not widely known. What works did one of the founders and first editor-in-chief of Ruch Muzyczny composed? What did he value in music? Why were his works constantly criticized by his contemporaries? Gąsiorowska's monograph restores the importance of his musical activity, which he conducted not only as a composer, but also as a reviewer and author of publications.

Małgorzata Gąsiorowska's book, full of anecdotes, letters and opinions, allows the reader to look deep into a life marked by a unique combination of comedy and tragedy. This is a story about a fascinating personality, without whom the Polish music scene of the 20th century would not look the same.
