Works for violin and piano by Jerzy Fitelberg (DUX 2101)
Contact with the high-ranking works of the composer, and in particular the reading, analysis, and preservation of his compositions, has been an incredibly important element of our lives as the creators of this album. We sincerely hope that the recordings of Jerzy Fitelberg’s works for violin and piano, whose manuscripts are currently held in archives across the ocean, will make a significant contribution to promoting his music. We believe that the composer’s works will have a second chance to make an impact, nearly eighty years later, in both Polish and global culture.
Our album titled "Jerzy Fitelberg. Works for Violin and Piano" contains four works recorded using manuscripts that are not currently held in any Polish libraries. We sourced copies of these works from the United States and began researching the life and works of one of the most talented Polish composers of Jewish descent. These world premiere recordings, which total over 60 minutes of music, include: Suite pour violon et piano (1932) Prelude for Violin and Piano (1938), Sept caprices pour violon et piano d’après "Le Tambourin" de Jean-Philippe Rameau (1944), Concertino da camera for Violin and Piano (1950–1951)
