The "Czas Sztuki" Foundation invites you to the third concert of this year's edition of the "Masovian Musical Meetings without Barriers". The concert entitled "The Symphony of Everyday Life" will take place on 28 August 2020 at 6:00 p.m. on the outdoor stage of the Cultural Center in Kałuszyn.

The "Czas Sztuki" Foundation was established in November 2017 and one of its main goals is to organise free artistic events for poor people from small rural towns, who are excluded from participating in cultural life. The organization has already conducted two series of concerts "Mazovian Musical Meetings without Barriers" in 2018 and 2019. The third edition of the series will feature 8 concerts, which will take place in very small towns in the counties of Mińsk, Siedlce and Węgrów, where residents are deprived of cultural offer and access to cultural goods.

The next concert is dedicated to seniors. The Time Quartet will present an overview of dances in musical works. The programme will feature a sarabande, minuet, march, polonaise, mazurka, waltz and tango by Georg Friedrich Handel, Luigi Boccherini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Fryderyk Chopin and Astor Piazzolla.

The project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund. Free admission!

The kontrabas.pl project is a series of three online concerts presenting Polish works for double bass, which will last untill 28 August 2020.

The initiative aims to present works that are hard to find on recordings. The initiator of the project is Karol Nasiłowski – a leader of the double bass section of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin and assistant professor at the Art Academy of Szczecin – together with his wife, pianist Izabella Nasiłowska.

The concerts take place in the new interactive Castanea hall at the Technopark Pomerania in Szczecin. The first two events featured Three Capriccios for double bass solo by Stefan Bolesław Poradowski and Three pieces for double bass and piano by Jan Kolasiński. During the last concert, scheduled for 28 August at 7.00 p.m., we will hear ContraForte, a ballad for double bass and piano by Benedykt Konowalski, written for the performers as a wedding gift.

The project is carried out as part of the"Culture on the web" programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The programme of the 43rd Karol Szymanowski Music Days in Zakopane, which will take place between 30 August and 6 September 2020, is focused primarily on the works of Ludwig van Beethoven, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Karol Szymanowski.

In 2020, the entire musical world is celebrating the 250th birth anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven. We can hear the influence of his artistic work in the 20th-century music, the best proof beeing Henryk Mikołaj Górecki's oeuvre. The composer, born in Czernica, drew inspiration from the Master of Bonn on many occasions. His music is also very close to Karol Szymanowski's work. Górecki was a student of Bolesław Szabelski, who was a student of the patron of the festival – in a straight line Górecki continues Szymanowski's musical heritage. Moreover, we cannot ignore the Silesian composer's love for Szymanowski's music and Podhale itself. If we add works by Ludomir Różycki, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Marcin Jachim (the winner of the 60th Tadeusz Baird Composers' Competition), we get a diverse range of Polish music from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century, which will be presented during the Festival.

Outstanding performers guarantee perfect interpretations of the achievements of these masters. The festival will be inaugurated by the Dafô Quartet, celebrating its 25th anniversary. We will hear violin recital by Sławomira Wilga, winner of the 1st Prize at the 1st Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition in Katowice, piano recitals by Radosław Sobczak and Eligiusz Skoczylas, concerts of the Silesian Quartet and the Sinfonia Varsovia String Ensemble under the direction of Jakub Haufa. The festival will end with a performance of The Highlander's Dance from Szymanowski's ballet Harnasie, arranged by Wiesław Świderski.

A presentation of new work by Radosław Mateja in the series “Contemporary chamber miniature in the times of pandemic. First performances” will take place on 27 August 2020 at 12.00 p.m. on the Academy of Music in Poznań's website, Facebook profile and YouTube channel.

The title of Radosław Mateja's piece  – Toccata for trombone and organ  – refers to the music of the 18th century, and its sequence of movements is slow-fast-slow (reprise). The middle segment includes fugato, another reference to baroque music. The piece will be premiered by Wojciech Jeliński (trombone) and Kamil Lis (organ).

The series “Contemporary chamber miniature in the times of pandemic. First performances ” presents premieres of works by composers associated with the Academy of Music in Poznań. On subsequent Thursdays we will hear miniatures composed by the Academy's teachers: Prof. Monika Kędziora (3 September), Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, PhD (10 September), Michał Janocha, PhD (17 September), Prof. Artur Kroschel (24 September), and Prof. Zbigniew Kozub (1 October).

The Iluzjon Cinema invites you on 27 August 2020 at 8.00 p.m. to the screening of the last silent film by Ernst Lubitsch The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg. Music for the film will be performed live by composer, arranger and improviser Aleksandra Chmielewska.

Aleksandra Chmielewska focuses on the relationship between music and visual art. In her music, she seeks to establish deep emotional connection with the listeners. She composes orchestral, choral and chamber music.

The drama The Student Prince is now considered a classic by many film historians and one of Lubitsch's best silent films. It was produced in 1927 by the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The script was based on the 1901 play Old Heidelberg by Wilhelm Meyer-Förster. This is the story of a young prince, heir to Karlsurg, who falls in love with a beautiful barmaid during his studies. Soon, however, he must choose between his heart and his duty to the royal family and the whole country. The main roles were played by pre-war cinema stars: Ramón Novarro, Norma Shearer and Philippe De Lacy. The Student Prince was produced for over 108 days and cost over a million dollars.
