British violinist Nigel Kennedy will play a new interpretation of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in a New Year’s Day concert in Kraków (January 1, 2016 at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre), accompanied by a jazz band and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra.
The concert will be part of a European tour promoting The New Four Seasons album which the artist released in October. Kennedy is returning to Vivaldi after 25 years. His recording of The Four Seasons (1989) sold over two million copies and became one of the best-selling classical recordings in history. This time the violinist offers a new take on Vivaldi that includes electronic percussion, heavy metal and trip-hop influences.
