The anniversary edition of the Gorczycki Festival will have its opening concert on November 20. This year the event’s central theme is “Baroque Jubilee” due to the celebration of the 330th anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel and Domenico Scarlatti as well as 350th anniversary of birth of Silesia-born festival’s patron.
The last concert will take place on Devember 6. The programme contains connotations reaching beyond Baroque music and style: it’s about artistic confrontations between Gorczycki’s music and Leszek Możdżer’s world of jazz, Richard Galliano’s accordion and Bach’s compositions, Gorczycki interpreted by Concerto Köln, London Baroque, and Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, violinist Rainer Honeck and AUKSO Chamber Orchestra performing Mozart and Górecki, and many others. The festival is co-organized by Sinfonietta Cracovia.
