Adam Didur in Memoriam

Adam DidurOn January 9, 2016 the Concert Hall of the Silesian Opera in Bytom will host a concert commemorating the 70th anniversary of Adam Didur’s death.

Famous opera singer, born in 1873 near Sanok, sang extensively in Europe and had a major career at New York's Metropolitan Opera between 1908 and 1932. Having completed his career as a singer, he worked as a professor in Lwów and Katowice, where he also started working on founding an opera company After the war ended in 1945, he was appointed the first director of the Silesian Opera, which opened with the performance of Moniuszko's opera Halka that Didur produced.

The programme of the concert, including the songs and airs from operas, operettas and musicals, will be performed by singers Cezary Biesiadecki, Stanisław Duda, Bogdan Kurowski, Wojciech Paczyński, Aleksander Teliga, Romuald Tesarowicz and Zbigniew Wunsch, and pianists Larysa Czaban and Halina Mansarlińska.
