Coryphaeus of Polish Music 2016 – 6th edition

Koryfeusz The Coryphaeus of Polish Music will be presented this year for the 6th time. The awards will be granted in four categories: Personality of the Year, Event of the Year, Honorary Award, and – for the first time – the Debut of the Year.

The recipients of the Coryphaeus of Polish Music awards are authors, performers, musicologists, critics, journalists, scientists, researchers, event animators, culture promoters and managers, artistic groups, as well as institutions, artistic events and various projects related to promotion of music culture, education and community outreach. The awards are granted by an Electoral College, consisting of vice-chancellors of music academies and universities, directors of institutes of musicology, journalists from music-related media, representatives of unions and organisations active in the Polish music world, as well as all the recipients of the award of previous editions, regardless of the category. The winner of the "Debut of the Year" title will be selected though online voting (September 19-22, 2016).

In 2015, more than 115 entries were registered and the awards were handed to Paweł Mykietyn (Personality of the Year), Opening of the new concert venue of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice (Event of the Year) and Stanisław Skrowaczewski (Honorary Award). The winners received commemorative statuettes designed by Prof. Adam Myjak, while the financial rewards were funded by ZAiKS Authors’ Association (Polish Society of Authors and Composers) and by STOART Union of Performing Artists.

Names of the candidates may be submitted by September 10, 2016 at: www.koryfeusz.org.pl. The winners will be announced at a special gala held on October 1, 2016 at the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw.
