Wratislavia Cantans - 51st edition

„Wratislavia Cantans” 2016 edition of the Andrzej Markowski International Festival "Wratislavia Cantans" will be held in Wrocław between 3-18 September.

This year, the festival holds the title "Europa Cantans" and its programme is richer and more varied than ever. The guest performers (including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Jordi Savall, Andrey Boreyko, Philippe Jaroussky, Václav Luks, Giovanni Sollima, Paolo Pandolfo, Andrea Ighisciano and many others) will give performances of such pieces as both Passions by Bach, Coronation Mass by Mozart, Beethoven and Shostakovich Symphonies, as well as music by Claudio Monteverdi, Georg Philipp Telemann, Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber, Wolfgang Rihm, Mikołaj Górecki. The organizers will also continue the tradition of concerts programmed upon works from Wrocław University Library music collection (this time, the main focus will be drawn to Italian instrumental music that was preserved only in the copies kept in Wrocław) and educational part of the Festival which will consist of course of interpretation of oratorio and cantata music and master classes on improvisation addressed to young musicians and led by Paolo Pandolfo, Robert Levin, Andrea Inghisciano, and Giovanni Sollima.
