Institute of Musicology of the Jagiellonian University organizes the International Conference of Young Musicologists "Young Musicology Today: tendencies, challenges and perspectives", which will be held between November 7-9, 2016 in Krakow.
The aim of the conference is to integrate the musicological community through the creation of an international forum for exchanging ideas and research experiences. Young musicologists will present results of ongoing studies and engage in discussion on the future of musicology, its role and place in the contemporary culture. As musicology is gradually starting to perform social functions while becoming not only a field of scientific inquiry but one of use to socjety, the conference participants will be asked to consider new directions of research, new methodologies, and the challenges faced by musicologists entering the job market. It will also be an opportunity to discuss the subject areas of interest to young musicology.
