2nd Karol Szymanowski International String Quartet Competition

k 2017 edition of the Karol Szymanowski International String Quartet Competition will be held in September 18-23 at the Academy of Music in Katowice.

The competition is organized by the Karol Szymanowski Music Society and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. Open to ensembles of all nationalities, it was initiated to promote works by Karol Szymanowski and other Polish composers.

The participants will be evaluated by the jury comprising internationally distinguished artists: Arkadiusz Kubica - Artistic Director of the Competition (Silesian Quartet), Peter Schuhmayer (Artis Quartet), Marek Czech (Royal String Quartet), Tim Frederiksen (Danish String Quartet), and Mats Lindstrom (Royal Academy London).

Application deadline - June 30, 2017.

The Competition will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Governor of the Silesia Voivodeship - Wojciech Saługa and the President of the City of Katowice - Marcin Krupa.
