Lodz | 72nd Musica Moderna Session

On 9 April – 12 May 2018, the Academy of Music in Lodz will host the 72nd session of "Musica Moderna". The series of events dedicated to contemporary music has been organized by the Academy for over 30 years.

The session will start with a lecture by Jacek Szerszenowicz on the visual aspects of the works of Bogusław Schaeffer, illustrated with the musical interpretations of Urszula Bereźnicka-Pniak. Russian pianist  Steinway artist Dmitri Ratser, who is known for choosing extremely diffucult repertoire, will perform as part of Monday's "Musical Evening". In addition, we will hear Eva Liebchen, Polish flutist specializing in new music, and Chilean composer Boris Alvarado.

Traditionally, young performers will present works by students of the composition classes of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. We will also hear the work which won the third prize at the American competition for young composers 39th Annual Young Composers̕ Competition 2017, National Association of Composers. There will be also presentations of the Electronic Music Computer Studio, graduation concerts of this year's graduates of composition classes, as well as an exhibition of paintings by Elżbieta Szczeblewska and an installation by Aleksandra Chciuk  both nspired by the music of Zygmunt Krauze.

Concerts, lectures, exhibition and installation will take place at the Lodz Academy of Music (4 1st May St.) and at the Artur Rubinstein Lodz Philharmonic (20/22 Narutowicza St.. Free admission to all events except the chamber concert, which will take place at the Lodz Philharmonic.
