This year's fifteenth season of the "Mazovia in the Crown" series, organized by the Mazovian Institute of Culture and partners from Mazovia, will be associated with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the independence of Poland. The inauguration of the cycle will take place on May 3, 2018 at 6.00 p.m. in the Sokołów Podlaski Co-cathedral.
During the inauguration of the cycle, outstanding artists will perform: the Sinfonia Viva orchestra under the direction of Tomasz Radziwonowicz, who is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his artistic career this year, and the pianist Karol Radziwonowicz. The musicians will perform works by Karol Szymanowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Fryderyk Chopin, Witold Lutosławski and Wojciech Kilar. The same programme will be presented during the next concert on May 6 at 7.00 p.m. in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Węgrów.
Patriotic accents have been present at the festival "Mazovia in the Crown" since the beginning of its existence. The first edition of the project commemorated the 475th anniversary of incorporation of the Masovian Duchy into the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. They won't be missed in the jubilee year of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence. Eleven concerts will present Polish music, largely written by composers from 1918-2018. The final concert "Rejoice, Mother, Poland!" will be held on November 11. Admission to all the concerts is free.
