Kraków | 11th Barbican Music Festival

Barbakan

This year's Barbican Music Festival, organized in the medieval Gothic-style fortification, will be held on July 3-6, 2018.

The festival, organized in cooperation with the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow, "revives" the historic place with an exceptional programme and outstanding performers, both young talents and experienced artists who present traditional and modern trends of Polish and world music culture.

During the inaugural concert "Musical Landscapes", Cracow Guitar Quartet will play, among others, Mazurkas, Op. 50 No. 6 and No. 11 by Karol Szymanowski. Anna Miernik Piano Recital will consist of works by Fryderyk Chopin, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Feliks Nowowiejski and Karol Szymanowski. Accordionist Maxim Salnikov along with the Russian Camerata under the direction of Andreia Kruzhkov will take us on the musical journey from Borodin to Piazzolla. The final concert will be performed by a unique Glass Duo accompanied by the orchestra under the baton of Piotr Sułkowski. Musicians will perform, among others, Songueira by Arkadiusz Szafraniec, member of Glass Duo – the only Polish ensemble playling glass music.

Tickets can be purchased from June 26 at the Barbakan ticket office and at the InfoKraków tourist information centre at 2 St. John Street.
