Warsaw | Autumn with Paderewski

TWON

Ignacy Jan Paderewski – pianist, composer, politician, star, genius! The figure is so unique that autumn at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera is dedicated to him. On October 7, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., there will be a special concert before the premiere of Paderewski's Manru opera.

Premiere Preludes is series of concerts held on the eve of each opera opening in the Moniuszko Auditorium throughout the season. Offering a taste of less known works of the composer of the opera, sometimes in a novel context, they serve as an excellent introduction to the premiere at hand.

Held on the eve of the opening of Manru, the opera by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, the concert presents the composer’s most beautiful pieces for piano and orchestra as well as his Overture for Symphony Orchestra. The Orchestra of the Polish National Opera will perform under Grzegorz Nowak, accompanying one of the most prominent contemporary classical pianists and a valued Paderewski interpreter, Jonathan Plowright. It is a rare opportunity to listen to Mr Plowright in Poland. The concert is ever more special because of the fact that the repertoire is so close to his heart and the heart of the Polish audience.

Ignacy Jan Paderewski was a major figure of the turn of the 19th and 20th century, a true patriot, and the only Polish composer whose opera has ever been staged at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. This concert is a great chance to acquaint yourself with his oeuvre, which is now being – rightfully – rediscovered.
