On March 29, 2019 at 7.00 p.m., the first concert in memory of Dominik Połoński will take place at the Łódź Philharmonic.

Dominik Połoński was an excellent cellist with a degree of a habilitated doctor of musical art. He was a laureate of many national and international music competitions, including the Grand Prix at the International Europhony Competition in Bucharest. In 2003, he was awarded the "Polityka" Passport award for "individuality and consistent improvement of artistic personality". He held the position of assistant professor in two music academies: he led the cello class at the Music Academy in Łódź and the Academy of Music in Kraków. Apart from his concert activity, he also conducted cello classes at national and international music courses. From 2004 he struggled with brain cancer. He was the only cellist in history that used only the right hand while playing.

The concert performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Łódź Philharmonic under the direction of its artistic director Paweł Przytocki will include the Symphony of Sorrowful Songs by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki with mezzo-soprano Aleksandra Opała as a soloist. In addition, the premiere of Ignacy Zalewski's Symphony. In memory of Dominik Połoński will take place. The concert will be combined with the screening of a film about the artist Variation for cello solo.

Before the concert, at 6.15 p.m., Andrzej Sułek will lead the meeting with Iza Połońska, Aleksandra Rek (the director of the film) and Bartosz Panek (author of the reportage about Dominik Połoński "I want more", awarded Prix Italia). That evening will also be the premiere of the album Mała Trylogia, which presents the record of Dominik's last performance in front of the audience in March last year, when he improvised to texts by Anton Chekhov read by the actor Bronisław Wrocławski.
