Tricity | 15th International Choir Festival "Mundus Cantat"

Mundus

Mundus Cantat celebrates the fifteenth anniversary! On May 22-25, 2019, international choirs will perform at the Tricity scenes. The star of this edition will be Paul Phenix, known from the King's Singers ensemble, who will perform in Poland for the first time.

One of the most recognizable choir festivals in the country will celebrate its jubilee not only in the Sopot but also in Tricity. As part of the festival, the "Mobile Mundus Cantat: Gdańsk accompanying concerts" project will be implemented this year. The festival will be attended by singers from Belarus, Great Britain, Georgia, France, Iceland, Lithuania, Colombia and, of course, a strong representation from Poland. The organizers invite adults, seniors, academics, children and youth choirs to compete in several musical categories: sacral music, secular music (including folklore) as well as gospel, jazz, and spirituals. The choirs will be judged by the international jury, whose chairman is prof. Marcin Tomczak.

The winners of this year's edition will be announced during the Final Concert, which will take place on May 25 at 5.00 p.m. in the lecture hall of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdansk (Sopot). The Festival Choir of the Sopot High School "Mundus Cantat|, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, will performe Cantemus nostrum canticum written by Beata Wróblewska, the ensemble's conductor.

The festival also includes other events: concerts of young artists, the Choir Parade at Sopot "Monciak" and various forms of artistic expression, such as performance at the train station and the Sopot pier.
