Warsaw | 4th Festival "TRZY-CZTE-RY: Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations"

trzy-czte-ry

4th edition of the music festival "TRZY-CZTE-RY: Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations" will take place in Warsaw on May 28 – June 19, 2019.

In a carefully selected programme, the pieces are contrasted and juxtaposed with each other. However, the main idea of the organizers is to confront the listeners with new artistic visions and contexts. The festival stands out due to the possibility of interaction between the audience and the musicians during panel discussions after each concert.

Part of the programme of this year's edition is devoted to Witold Lutosławski, whose 25th death anniversary fell on February 7. During the inauguration concert, the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra under the baton of the Italian conductor Renato Rivolta will perform his Livre pour orchestre as well as Symphony No. 1 by Karol Szymanowski. The concert on June 11 will be devoted to the Hungarian composer, improviser and pianist Szábolcs Esztényi who lives in Poland and this year celebrates 80th birthday. Two days later the exceptional soprano Anna Zawisza with the accompaniment of Maciej Grzybowski, the artistic director of the Festival, will perfrom works by Józef Haydn, Karol Szymanowski, Witold Lutosławski and Andrzej Czajkowski. This year also marks the 100th birth anniversary of Mieczysław Weinberg, whose music will be presented by the Silesian Quartet and pianist Piotr Sałajczyk on June 14. The finale will feature, among others, Recitativa and the ariosa "Lerchenmusik", Op. 53 by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.
