Kraków | 29th Jewish Culture Festival

FKŻ

29th Jewish Culture Festival – the largest presentation of Jewish culture in Poland – will be held between 21-30 June 2019. The main theme of this year's edition is the Earth – a place that builds identity and preserves memory.

This interdisciplinary festival will consist of 125 events, including 21 concerts and music meetings. The music programme traditionally stands out with its diversity. Klezmer music (Emil Kroitor, Michael Winograd) will be performed alongside Sephardic and Mizrahi music (Raymond Abecassis, The Piyut Ensemble); traditional cantorial singing (cantors: Israel Rand, Yoni Rose, Avraham Kirshenbaum) will be placed next to modern music genres (Ola Bilińska, Uzi Navon, Emmanuel Witzthum), or a series of DJ events organized together with Teder. For the first time on the festival scenes there will be parties with Israeli hip-hop. Traditionally, there will be an iconic Szalom concert at the Szeroka Street (29 June). Sinfonietta Cracovia will perform in various and unobvious configurations.

The concert at the Tempel Synagogue will be devoted to the memory of the Polish pianist, composer and conductor Leopold Kozłowski, the last representative of pre-war klezmer in Poland, who has passed this year at the age of 100 ... In the multifunctional tent of the Festival, we will also listen to Polish contemporary music. Airis Quartet will present Maciej Małecki's String Quartet No. 1 and Henryk Czyż's Jazz etude.
