Aleksander Tansman's music inspired by the Baroque and Astor Piazzolla's passionate tango – this is how you can briefly describe the repertoire of the upocoming concert from the cycle "Sinfonia Varsovia at Grochowska Street" on 30 August 2019 at 7:30 p.m. The musicians of the orchestra together with the virtuoso of the guitar Krzysztof Meisinger will bring to the listeners the blissful atmosphere of dolce far niente.
The concert will start with the works of Aleksander Tansman, who made a great career both in France and in the United States, earning the name of a Hollywood composer (in 1945 his music was nominated for an Oscar). The afternoon at Grochowska will start with Variations on the theme of Frescobaldi with neo-baroque sounds and clear inspirations of the Italian composer whose name appears in the title. Then we will listen to Musique de cour for guitar and chamber orchestra – a collection of dances inspired by court music, specifically by musical themes written by French lute player and guitarist Robert de Visée. The soloist and conductor of the concert – Krzysztof Meisinger – will show his virtuosity in this piece.
After the intermission the soloist and orchestra will present works by Astor Piazzolla – not only the most famous ones, such as Libertango and Milonga del Angel, but also the nostalgic Soledad and Concierto para Quinteto. Krzysztof Meisinger has repeatedly proven his great skills in peforming music of this Argentinian composer, with ASTOR album recorded in 2015 with Sinfonia Varsovia being one example. It is thanks to the composer that a separate form of tango nuevo has developed, combining elements of classical music and jazz. The characteristic sound of Piazzolla's works is the best showcase of this type of music – intimate, contrasting, full of passion. This will also be the atmosphere of the Friday concert at Sinfonia Varsovia.
