Kraków | 3rd edition of the "Gradus ad Parnassum" Piano Master Academy

Gradus ad Parnassum

The Association of Polish Chamber Musicians invites you to participate in the third edition of the "Gradus ad Parnassum" Piano Master Academy, which will take place at the Włądysław Żeleński Secondary State Music School in Krakow on 11-13 October 2019.

One of the largest piano meetings in the country lasts for three days and combines the themes of traditional piano education, initial education, piano chamber music, improvisation, sight-reading, as well as preparing pianists to function in professional life. Every year the project gathers over 300 pianists from all over Poland. Among this year's guests will be professors Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Ewa Bukojemska, Paweł Zawadzki, Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka, and Charles Owen.

The Academy will feature a recital of the laureate of international piano competitions Jakub Kuszlik, a chamber concert with the participation of lecturers of the Music Academy in Kraków and Bydgoszcz – dr Maria Sławek (violin) and prof. dr hab. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń (piano), and a final concert performed by Maria Sławek (violin), Marcin Zdunik (cello), Anna Maria Staśkiewicz (violin) and Marcin Dońc (viola).

The Academy has long been heading towards expanding the didactic repertoire of Polish composers. On 12 October at 3 p.m., there will be a premiere of Kaleidoscope. Four-hand miniatures by Marta Mołodyńska-Wheeler, commissioned by the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians. The event will also promote a selection of 4 hands sheet music for piano published by PWM Edition, including works by Polish composers.

Admission to all events is free.
