The Chair of Music Theory at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw invites you to the National Science and Art Conference 'Moniuszko Read Anew', which will take place on 28-30 October 2019 in the New Senate Hall.

The subject of the conference will be the unknown works of Stanisław Moniuszko, primarily orchestral. 'Unknown' means not distributed at all or rarely distributed, both in concert performances and in recordings or documentation, or widespread in versions that differ from the original. The conference will also discuss the reception of Moniuszko's works in the nineteenth century and in the period of Young Poland, as well as its presence and use in the Polish People's Republic and the breaking of the established patterns of its reception today.

The conference will be inaugurated on Monday at 10 a.m. by Andrzej Spoz, director of the WTM Library, with a lecture entitled: Stanisław Moniuszko in the Library, Museum and Archives of the Stanisław Moniuszko Warsaw Music Society. The discussions will be divided into five thematic panels: PANEL 1: Stanisław Moniuszko's operas and songs (Monday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.), PANEL 2: Word and literary programme in the works of Stanisław Moniuszko (Monday, 3-6 p.m.), PANEL 3: Comparison of Stanisław Moniuszko's scores with their editions. Transcriptions and paraphrases (Tuesday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.), PANEL 4: The form and language of Stanisław Moniuszko's orchestral and chamber works (Tuesday, 3-6 p.m.), PANEL 5: Film and sociological threads related to the work of Stanisław Moniuszko (Wednesday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. ).

On the first day of the conference at 7 p.m. Prof. Krzysztof Baculewski will discuss and present the recording of the Stanisław Moniuszko's opera Beata or Blind. The Moniuszko Concert will take place on the last day of the concerence at 7 p.m. in the FCUM Concert Hall. The Orchestra of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music will perform under the direction of Janusz Przybylski. The concert will be hosted by Alicja Gronau-Osińska and Ignacy Zalewski.
