FS

On 8 November 2019, the Silesian Museum will celebrate its 90th anniversary with a concert of the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Iwona Sobotka conducted by Juozas Domarkas.

The concert to celebrate a holiday of such an important regional institution will abound in unusually colorful works written by composers related to Silesia. The programme will include Silesian Triptych by Witold Lutosławski and Stanczyk Symphonic Scherzo by Ludomir Różycki, who was strongly associated with Katowice and the local State Higher School of Music (today the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music). We will also listen to the musical interpretation of Jan Kasprowicz's metaphysical poetry in the 3 Fragments from poems of Jan Kasprowicz, Op. 5 by Karol Szymanowski. The work will be performed for the first time by the world-reknown stage artist of exceptional sensitivity – Iwona Sobotka. The evening will finish with the solemn Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
