The Łódź Culture Center and the Polish Association of Choirs and Orchestras – Branch in Łódź invites you to the 22nd Łódź Choir Festival "Cantio Lodziensis", which will take place on 16-17 November 2019. This year's event takes the form of competition between choirs and vocal ensembles judged by the international jury chaired by Prof. Dariusz Dyczewski – rector of the Art Academy in Szczecin.
Ensembles representing general and music schools, colleges, academies, cultural institutions and singers' associations from Poland and Slovakia will participate in the Festival. This year's programme will include two blocks of competition concerts and a gala evening. The festival's guest will be the academic choir D’Voice SV IPB Student Choir of the University of Bogor, West Java from Indonesia conducted by Asep Aryanto, who will perform in the non-competitive part at the Museum in Łowicz. The festival will also feature a seminar for conductors, which will be led by professors of the music academies in Łódź, Katowice and Szczecin.
This artistic event promotes the activities of various amateur choirs and vocal ensembles and also fulfills an educational role. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Moniuszko, the additional prize for the best performance of the work by our national composer will be awarded by the organisers. The jury will also nominate the laureate of the Festival to participate in the Stefan Stuligrosz Grand Prix Festival of Polish Choir Singing, which will take place in Poznań.
The festival is also an opportunity to promote the artistic achievements of contemporary composers. To this end, a special repertoire has been prepared for the choirs participating in the project. The fringe concerts will be held in Zgierz, Łowicz, Aleksandrów Łódzki and Ksawerów. Admission to all concerts within the Festival is free!
