Polish Composers' Union announces the 62nd Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers 2020. The competition is organized thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the ZAiKS Association of Authors. It is open to Polish composers (with Polish citizenship or a Polish Card) who are under 35 years of age.
The Competition aims at inspiring young artists to refer in their chamber pieces to the values present in the works of Tadeusz Baird. By choosing a creative attitude inspired by Baird's output, one can reach more or less directly to his composing ideas.
The subject of the Competition in 2020 is a piece for four instrument of the sime kind: 4 violins or 4 clarinets (in B) or 4 trumpets (in B). Duration: 8'-15'.
The competition has two stages. In the first stage, which results will be announced by 28 February 2021, the jury will select works to be performed during a public presentation. The announcement of the results of the second stage will follow the public presentation of qualified works, which will take place in June 2021.
The Tadeusz Baird prize is PLN 10,000. In addition, the jury will award two honorable mentions (accomodation and subscription to all concerts of the "Warsaw Autumn" International Festival of Contemporary Music) funded by the Main Board of the Polish Composers' Union.
The Jury of the Competition will be chaired by Olga Hans.
