Katowice | Last concert of the season – online and in the concert hall!

FS

On 19 June 2020 at 7.00 p.m., the Silesian Philharmonic will be filled with music and joy of experiencing it together. After the pandemic break, the long-awaited final concert of the season will be open to public.

The concert will be inaugurated by a unique work, which was co-created by five composers and hundreds of music lovers through online voting as part of the project #stayathomeandcreate, organized by the Silesian Philharmonic and PWM Edition. The project coincided with the sad news about the death of one of the most important and outstanding composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, Krzysztof Penderecki. The artists agreed to devote a joint work to the deceased Master. Suite in Memoriam Krzysztof Penderecki consists of five parts that differ in subject, character, form, harmonics and style. Each of them was created by Facebook users with a different composer, including: Mikołaj Górecki, Enjott Schneider, Adam Wesołowski, Marcel Chyrzyński and Jerzy Kornowicz. The composition is therefore a kind of review of the paths followed by contemporary artists, it illustrates how different are their approaches to composing and how these approaches can be combined by a common mission.

The Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk will also present two works by Ludwig van Beethoven: Overture "Coriolan" and Symphony No. 4 in B flat major.

The project was co-financed by the National Centre for Culture as part of the "Culture on the Web" programme.
