The kontrabas.pl project is a series of three online concerts presenting Polish works for double bass, which will last untill 28 August 2020.
The initiative aims to present works that are hard to find on recordings. The initiator of the project is Karol Nasiłowski – a leader of the double bass section of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin and assistant professor at the Art Academy of Szczecin – together with his wife, pianist Izabella Nasiłowska.
The concerts take place in the new interactive Castanea hall at the Technopark Pomerania in Szczecin. The first one featured Three Capriccios for double bass solo by Stefan Bolesław Poradowski. The second one, scheduled for 30 July at 7.00 p.m., will include Three pieces for double bass and piano by Jan Kolasiński, and the third one on 28 August – ContraForte, ballad for double bass and piano by Benedykt Konowalski, written for the performers as a wedding gift.
The project is carried out as part of the"Culture on the web" programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
