Gdańsk | St. John's A-New. Baltic Evening

NCKThe Baltic Sea Cultural Centre invites you for the next event as part of the "St. John's A-New" project, which will take place on 2 August 2020 at 6.00 p.m. at the St. John's Centre.

This year the BSCC became one of the partners of Östersjöfestivalen/Baltic Sea Festival – a prestigious classical music festival organised by the Swedish Radio and directed by an exquisite conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the festival has been cancelled, but the work of the partners is still continuing.

As part of this collaboration, the BSCC is organising a "Baltic Evening", which includes a performance of NeoQuartet, a music group from Tricity, and a meeting with a special guest, Mariusz Szczygieł – reporter, writer and journalist, laureate of Nike Literary Award. The NeoQuartet accompanied by clarinetist Emilia Maciak – this year's graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk – will present works by Paweł Szymański and Jörg Widmann, as well as compositions for electric instruments. After the concert, Dorota Karaś will lead a meeting with Mariusz Szczygieł on the role of culture in today's complicated reality.

Due to restrictions for public events and cultural centres related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the audience of the St. John's Centre is limited to 175 seats.
