Kraków | 4th Krakow Music Salon – chamber music in the salons!

Krakowski Salon Muzyczny

Recalling the memory of the tradition of music salons as a popular element of the cultural life of 19th-century Kraków is the goal of a unique festival organized for the fourth time by the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians. The 4th edition of the Kraków Music Salon will be held between 10 and 29 September 2020 at the Jan Matejko House.

The festival aims at popularizing chamber music, including works by Polish composers, not only 19th- century, but also by contemporary ones. This year's edition will feature six concerts and two lectures, introducing the concert customs, the works of underrated, forgotten composers and the profiles of forgotten figures of Kraków and European artistic life. The list of performers will include soloists and chamber ensembles: Dorota Szczepańska (soprano), Hanna Hipp (mezzo-soprano), Karol Kozłowski (tenor), Łukasz Hajduczenia (baritone), Zarębski Piano Duo, Bartosz Koziak (cello), Agnieszka Kozło (piano), Anna Maria Staśkiewicz (violin), Katarzyna Budnik (viola), Marcin Zdunik (cello), Michał Francuz (piano), Joanna Konarzewska (violin), Rafał Kwiatkowski (cello) and Herbert Trio. The concert programme will include works by Polish and European composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, among others, Władysław Żeleński, Karol Szymanowski and Grzegorz Fitelberg.

Admission to all events is free! Due to sanitary restrictions, the number of places is limited. Information on tickets will be posted on the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians website and Facebook page. The whole festival will be broadcast online on YouTube.

The project was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Music" programme operated by the Institute of Music and Dance.
