Sopot | 20th International Festival "Maria Fołtyn Kaleidoscope of Musical Forms" 2020

Kalejdoskop form muzycznych

The 'Maria Fołtyn Kaleidoscope of Musical Forms' Festival has become a summer showcase of the Pomerania region, presenting the best works of Polish and world classical and popular music. Its 20th anniversary edition will take place on 12-27 September 2020, bringing music from the baroque to the present day to the unique venues of the Sopot seaside resort.

The festival is constantly evolving, with each year bringing new inspirations and ideas. Its subsequent editions are extended with new music styles, thus becoming a mixture of sophisticated, modern sounds and sometimes surprising musical solutions. The multicultural nature of the festival refers to the multicultural heritage of Sopot and Pomerania. A great advocate of the International Festival "Kaleidoscope of Musical Forms" in Sopot was a legendary Polish vocalist, maestro Maria Fołtyn. 2020 marks the 8th death anniversary of this great promoter of Stanisław Moniuszko's work in the world.

The programme of this year's edition includes concerts entitled "From Bach to the Present", "Hits of vocal and organ music", "Jewish motifs in world music", and the spectacle "Evening bell". The great finale of the Festival – the show "Milonga between Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Paris and Kraków" – will feature the French-Polish NonStop Tango Trio and dancers of the AKAT Ballroom Dance Club in Łomża. The accompanying event will be a concert to celebrate the Year of the Battle of Warsaw entitled "Buds of white roses were opening". The Year 1920 by Gdańsk composer Kamil Cieślik will be premiered by the Festival directors: Dariusz S. Wójcik (bass) and Jacek Szymański (tenor), accompanied on piano by Paweł Zawada.

Tickets are available at the festival venues (booking: +48 600 290 214).

Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Music" programme carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.
