Cologne | "Deep Listening Deep Relaxation" Project Premiere

EG

The "Deep Listening Deep Relaxation" music project, created by the Ensemble Garage, a renowned German ensemble specializing in modern music, and Monika Pasiecznik, a Polish curator and music critic, will be premiered on 16 September 2020 in Cologne (Germany) in Tanzfaktur, a picturesque post-industrial space housing the interdisciplinary art scene.

The project in the form of a multimedia concert with elements of video, performance, sound installation and music workshop explores the ancient tradition of psychosomatic sound impact and contemporary approaches to this tradition in the form of traditional musical pieces, but also sound meditation workshops, screaming workshops, sound massages and mindfulness installations.

The project will feature works by composers researching this subject, representing various generations and nationalities – from contemporary classics, such as the Americans Pauline Oliveros and Alvin Lucier, to the youngest composers, such as Korean Yiran Zhao, Australian Aviva Endean and German Neo Hülcker. Three pieces were commissioned especially for the project: Let me just by Neo Hülcker, Urschrei / Primal Scream by Kuba Krzewiński and Deep Relaxation vol. 7: TouchMe by Mikołaj Laskowski.

The project "Deep Listening Deep Relaxation" is part of the concert series "ACTS 'N SOUNDS" initiated by the Ensemble Garage in Cologne in 2019. The series includes avant-garde music concerts and performances of very different themes and forms, prepared by famous composers, dramatists and curators and presented by musicians in various unusual locations.
