2nd International Józef Madeja Festival

Festiwal Madei

The 2nd edition of the International Józef Madeja Festival will take place on 9–26 October 2020, featuring concerts, master classes and meetings with exceptional artists from Poland and abroad.

The festival is organized by the Józef Madeja Association, based in Poznań and operating throughout Poland, as well as cooperating with cultural institutions abroad. This year, the Association invited the world-famous German clarinetist Dirk Altmann to conduct master classes and perform at a concert at the Jankowice Palace on 10 October. That evening we will also hear the Festival Clarinet Orchestra made up of students of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and the Local Government Primary Music School in Tarnowo Podgórne conducted by prof. Zdzisław Nowak. The list of festival's foreign guests will also include violist Esther Alba López.

The programme of the Festival consists of exceptional chamber music works by composers such as Józef Madeja, Henryk Czyż, Ignacy Friedman, Claude Debussy, Robert Schumann, Ludwig van Beethoven and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. The inaugural concert will premiere a new piece by Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, a lecturer of the Academy of Music in Poznań. A concert on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth, celebrated around the world, will take place on 18 October at the Academy of Music in Poznań. The final concert will be held in the Ballroom of the Rydzyna Castle on 26 October.

Admission to all concerts is free!
