Poznań | 49th Poznań Music Spring

PWMThis year's 49th "Poznań Music Spring" will be exceptional because it will take place in autumn, on 19-23 October 2020. The festival will feature famous artists from Poland, England, Austria and Slovenia.

The "Poznań Music Spring" is a special festival on the map of contemporary music. Its first edition took place in 1961, and its originator and founder was one of the leading composers of the time – Tadeusz Szeligowski. The festival popularises new music among a wide audience, but also meets the high expectations of modern music connoisseurs, which create the unique character of the Festival. For many years, "Poznań Music Spring" has presented a wide spectrum of the contemporary music scene, presenting music of artists from both Poland and the world. The organisers of the festival are Polish Composers' Union – Poznań Branch and More Than One Production.

Despite the adversities caused by the pandemic, 12 festival concerts will take place in October. We will hear premieres of works by Polish and Slovenian composers, including Piotr Tabakiernik's intavolatura, commissioned by the Festival as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme operated by the Institute of Music and Dance, and Nikolet Burzyńska's Deeper, co-financed by the Creativity Promotion Fund of the ZAiKS Society of Authors.
